Stewed Apples

Stewed Apples

Birgit
These stewed apples can be made on the stove top or in the microwave. Serve them warm or cold on top of oats or yogurt. They also make a great dessert with some ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon or to taste
  • 1 tsp. honey or maple syrup or sweetener of your choice

Instructions

  • If you want, you can peel the apples.

On the stovetop:

  • Place a small saucepan over low to medium heat. Add 1-2 Tbsp. water, apples, cinnamon, and sweetener (if using).
  • Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes or until the apples are as soft as you would like them. (Add more water as needed.)

In the microwave:

  • Add apples, cinnamon, and sweetener (if using) to a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Cook on high for about 3 minutes or until the apples are as soft as you would like them.

Notes

You can easily make a bigger batch, just cook the apples a little longer.
