Stewed Apples
These stewed apples can be made on the stove top or in the microwave. Serve them warm or cold on top of oats or yogurt. They also make a great dessert with some ice cream or whipped cream.
Ingredients
- 2 apples
- 1 tsp. cinnamon or to taste
- 1 tsp. honey or maple syrup or sweetener of your choice
Instructions
- If you want, you can peel the apples.
On the stovetop:
- Place a small saucepan over low to medium heat. Add 1-2 Tbsp. water, apples, cinnamon, and sweetener (if using).
- Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes or until the apples are as soft as you would like them. (Add more water as needed.)
In the microwave:
- Add apples, cinnamon, and sweetener (if using) to a microwave-safe bowl.
- Cook on high for about 3 minutes or until the apples are as soft as you would like them.
Notes
You can easily make a bigger batch, just cook the apples a little longer.
