Local Farms, Local Food, Shared with All
This growing season, thanks to the generosity of our community, more Upper Valley families have had access to fresh, local produce, while regional farms have received meaningful support for their work.
A Season of Impact
Willing Hands is delivering $34,441 worth of fruits and vegetables to our neighbors this season, purchased through the Give Local Food program (formerly known as Share A Share). These CSA shares were funded by 261 individual donors and with matching contributions from three of our partner farms.
These shares of seasonal produce from eight local farms are added to our regular deliveries. Every week, this food is making its way to our hunger-relief partners across the Upper Valley free of charge and into the meals of the individuals and families they serve.
In total, Willing Hands delivers nearly one million servings of local food each year, helping to ensure that fresh, nourishing meals are within reach for everyone in the community. This food is from farms that partner with Willing Hands in various ways, including participating in the Give Local Food program, donating food, and hosting our volunteer groups who glean from their surplus crops.
How the Give Local Food Program Works
Community members donate funds to the Give Local Food program, which allows Willing Hands to purchase farm-fresh produce from participating local farms in the form of a CSA. Alternatively, community members can buy CSA shares directly from a participating farm and let the farm know it’s a donation to Willing Hands. We then deliver this food all season directly to our partner organizations working to reduce food insecurity in the region.
A Community Rooted in Sharing
This effort is only possible because of the community—an incredible network of supporters who believe in the importance of local agriculture and in equitable access to fresh food. We are so grateful for your commitment to this work. Thank you.
