From the Director: Spring 2021

Dear Friends,

As I reflect on this past year, I think about those we have lost, those who have struggled with illness, and those whose livelihoods, hopes, and dreams were put on hold. But what also stands out is the overwhelming generosity of the community’s response to this hardship. When confronted with a crisis, human nature dictates that we dig deep, jump in, and get busy. I am fortunate to have been able to share in our collective desire to help each other. It is inspiring to be contacted by volunteers and donors, young and old, who reached out to offer assistance in any way they could to get food to those in need.  Last year was incredibly challenging, but I’m so grateful to all of you who were part of the silver lining. 2020 blew away my expectations of what we can do together. In so many ways it gave me hope for the future.

Willing Hands exists to ensure that everyone, regardless of financial circumstance, has access to fresh, healthy food. As an organization that believes healthy, nourishing food is a human right, our duty was to lean into the crisis. And lean we did.

Warmly,

Gabe Zoerheide
